Cleo’s Pumpkin Dog Biscuits

2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups brown rice flour *
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Preheat oven to 350.

In large bowl, whisk together eggs and pumpkin to smooth. Stir in dry milk, sea salt, and dried parsley (if using, optional). Add brown rice flour gradually, combining with spatula or hands to form a stiff, dry dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface (can use the brown rice flour) and if dough is still rough, briefly knead and press to combine.

Roll dough between 1/4 – 1/2″ – depending on your dog’s chew preferences, – and use biscuit or other shape cutter to punch shapes, gathering and re-rolling scraps as you go. Place shapes on cookie sheet, no greasing or paper necessary. If desired, press fork pattern on biscuits before baking, a quick up-and-down movement with fork, lightly pressing down halfway through dough. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully turn biscuits over, then bake additional 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely on rack before feeding to dog.

* Brown rice flour gives the biscuits crunch and promotes better dog digestion. Many dogs have touchy stomachs or allergies, and do not, like many people I know, tolerate wheat.

Makes up to 75 small (1″) biscuits or 50 medium biscuits

Kitty Heaven (Sardines & Rice)

      2 Flat cans of sardines in oil
      2/3 c Cooked rice
      1 tb Liver
      1/4 c Parsley, chopped

Combine all ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon to break up sardines into bite-sized pieces.
Yields: 2 - 3 servings. Store unused portion in refrigerator, tightly covered.

Pawfect Dog Biscuits

Yield: 3 Dozen

2 1/2 c Whole wheat flour
1 ts Sugar
1 ts Salt
6 tb Margarine
1 Egg
1/2 c Skim milk
1/4 c Creamy peanut butter
2 ts water, cold (approx.)
2 Egg whites lightly beaten
Sesame seeds optional

1. Combine flour, sugar and salt. With a pastry blender or a fork, cut in the margarine until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
2. Beat egg in a small bowl. Stir in milk and peanut butter (mixture will be lumpy). Add egg mixture to flour mixture; stir. Stir in the water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until the dough forms a ball.
3. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough for 3 minutes. Roll dough out to a 1/2-inch-thick rectangle. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter. Brush with beaten egg whites and, if desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
4. Bake in a preheated 350'F oven until firm and golden, about 30 minutes.

Pupkin Biscuits

These treats will taste as sweet as candy to your four-leggedfriend, and the natural health benefi ts of pumpkin will evenhelp soothe (and trim!) his tummy.
Makes: 36 servings

Bake: 40 mins
ingredients
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pure pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons dry milk powder
2 1/2 cups white or whole wheat flour
directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees . In a bowl, stir together the eggs, pumpkin puree, milk powder and flour; add 2 tsp. water, or enough so that the dough just comes together.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with 1-inch cookie cutters. Gather the scraps, combine, roll and form more biscuits; repeat until all the dough is used.
Place the biscuits 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, then turn over and bake until hardened, another 20 minutes. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes.
